Cleaning before Chinese New Year has been a custom in China since ancient times. Every year before the Spring Festival, Chinese families would clean up their houses, appliances, bedclothes and curtains. Since the word ”dust” is homophonic to ”old” in Chinese language, people hope they can drive the bad luck or the old things away through cleaning. The custom shows Chinese people’s wish to destroy the old and establish the new.
中国自古以来就有过年大扫除的习俗。每年春节前，中国家庭都会清理自己的房屋、电器、床上用品和窗帘。由于“尘”字在汉语中与“旧”谐音，人们希望通过打扫来驱走厄运或旧物。这一习俗体现了中国人破旧立新的愿望。

New Year goods, an indispensable part for Chinese during the Spring Festival, is believed to be the carrier for luck and fortune in a brand new year. It’s not the goods but the process that people prepare the goods with their beloved ones that matters the most. Spring Festival, or better known as Chinese Lunar New Year, is the most important festival for all Chinese, which has a history of more than 4,000 years. It is an occasion for home returning, New Year goods preparing, celebrating, and foremost, family reunion.
年货是中国人春节不可缺少的一部分，被认为是新的一年里幸运和财富的载体。最重要的不是货物，而是人们与心爱的人一起准备货物的过程。春节，或俗称中国农历新年，是所有中国人最重要的节日，已有4000多年的历史。这是一个回家，准备新年物品，庆祝，最重要的是家庭团聚的场合。

On the first three days of the festival, people will visit their close relatives and best friends, exchanging greetings and presents, which is known as the ‘New Year’s Visit’. The young generation are given the red envelop from their elder generation. The Spring Festival carnivals take place during this period. There are performances of dragon dancing, lion dancing and recreational parades in the street by some troupes.节日的前三天，人们会拜访亲朋好友，互致问候和礼物，被称为“新年拜访”。年轻一代得到了老一代的红包。春节狂欢节在此期间举行。一些剧团在街上表演舞龙、舞狮和游乐。

Stilt Walk
Stilt walk, also a popular folk art performance in China, is mainly held during the Spring Festival. The skilled performers would put on the costumes, dress up and tie stilts on their legs to perform in the square. The performers on stilts are taller than the average, making it easy to watch and convenient to move like a flexible stage. As a result, the stilt walk is widely popular among the masses.
踩高跷也是中国流行的民间艺术表演，主要在春节期间举行。技艺高超的表演者会穿上戏服，盛装打扮，并在腿上系上高跷，在广场上表演。踩高跷的表演者比一般人高，就像灵活的舞台一样易于观看和移动。因此，高跷步行在群众中广受欢迎。
